The Iran War and its Aftermath

What’s Changed for Israel, the Middle East— and What Comes Next?

A Conversation with David Makovsky & Ghaith al-Omari

Wednesday, September 16 | 7:30 PM

GE Theatre at Proctors, Schenectady

At a pivotal moment for Israel and the Middle East, David Makovsky and Ghaith al-Omari bring two deeply informed and complementary perspectives to a conversation about what comes next. How has the Iran War changed Israel’s strategic position? What new challenges—and opportunities—could emerge for Israel, regional cooperation, the Abraham Accords, the U.S.-Israel relationship, and the Israeli-Palestinian landscape?

Makovsky is the Ziegler Distinguished Fellow at The Washington Institute and director of its Project on Arab-Israel Relations; al-Omari is a Senior Fellow at the Institute and former executive director of the American Task Force on Palestine. With decades of combined experience in journalism, diplomacy, public policy, Palestinian negotiations, and the Palestinian Authority, they offer firsthand insight and historical context for understanding Israel and the region’s next chapter.
